Come to the Craine Room for a screening of the documentary In the Whale: The Greatest Fish Story Ever Told, followed by a Q&A session with Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter David Abel, the writer, director, and producer of In the Whale.
The film tells the true story of local lobster diver Michael Packard, who, in 2021, was briefly caught in the jaws of a whale off the coast of Cape Cod. While this incident is widely known throughout the region, there is a larger story behind it. This award-winning documentary takes a closer look at what happened before, during, and after Mike’s harrowing experience, making for one whale of a tale.
The screening of the documentary will be followed by a Q&A with David Abel. David is a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter who works for The Boston Globe. His interests include environmental issues and the fishing industry. His work with Michael Packard to create In the Whale led to the film winning the Audience Choice Award at the 2023 New Hampshire Film Festival and Best Feature Film at the Green Film Festival in San Francisco.
Admission is free and all are welcome. Seating is first come, first served.
