Please join us for a short reading and discussion between author Cynthia Blakely and novelist and memoirist Adrienne Brodeur. Cynthia’s newly released book, The Innermost House, interweaves stories from her precarious upbringing in Wellfleet with scholarly insight into how we remember, why we forget, and the choices we make in the curation of the past. Cynthia draws from her expertise in both memory and memoir, subjects which she teaches courses on as an instructor at Emory University in Atlanta. The book has been lauded for its innovation within the memoir genre and its use of modern science to discuss the intricacies of memory while creating a beautifully touching rendition of childhood memories on Cape Cod.
Cynthia will read from her book, then discuss its writing and contents with Adrienne Brodeur, author of the national bestseller, Little Monsters. Afterward, there will be time to take questions from the audience, and there will be books available for sale and signing.
Admission is free and all are welcome.
