Art Exhibit: Painted Pixels - The Art of Painterly Photography

  • Snow Library 67 Main Street Orleans, MA United States (map)

A photography exhibition by Harwich-based photographer Pat Watson will be on display in the Marion Craine Gallery throughout the month of July. Painted Pixels: The Art of Painterly Photography features 24 of Pat’s works. A reception to meet the artist will be held on Saturday, July 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Pat creates her distinctive, soft, ethereal images using a variety of photographic techniques, including slow shutter speed, intentional camera movement, and in-camera multiple exposure, building layers and repetitive shapes from subjects in nature. She draws inspiration from her deep love of nature, especially flowers. Since moving to Cape Cod, her subject matter has expanded to birds, seascapes, and landscapes. She uses these different techniques to create a sense of rhythm and movement, and to encourage the viewer to examine the subject more closely.

Pat’s work has received several awards and been juried into many local and national art shows and exhibits at the Cape Cod Art Center, the Cape Cod Museum of Art, the Addison Gallery, The Creative Arts Center in Chatham and the Plymouth Center for the Arts. Last Fall, one of Pat’s images was juried into an exhibit at the FUJIFILM House of Photography in London. Pat is a member of the Creative Arts Center in Chatham and the Cape Cod Viewfinders Camera Club.
