Join an online book talk with local author Cirrus Farber, who will read from and discuss her new memoir, “Normal Rebel.” In this true coming-of-age tale, Farber chronicles what it's like to grow up in a family that's different. How can she blend in if everyone around her has everything and she has nothing? Written in an engaging diary format, "Normal Rebel" is an eye-opening story for young adult readers about poverty, friendship, acceptance, and family.
Farber grew up in Orleans and continues to live there now with her husband and three teenage children. For over 20 years, she has taught elementary and middle school students on Cape Cod.

Here are some “Normal Rebel” student reviews, written by Orleans Elementary School 5th grade students:
“This is a great book! It definitely shows how you can go from not having very much to becoming a teacher for 20 years! Hope is everywhere; sometimes you just have to look a little deeper to find it!” ~C.C.
“I think kids should read this book because it could connect to somebody who is having a hard time and show them that they are able to get through the hard time. Intense! Inspiring! Different!” ~M.R.
“Sad, inspiring, intense! Some kids only read books with ‘happy endings’ about someone’s perfect little life, when nowadays that is almost impossible to see. Kids need to know that life has challenges and that it is okay; you can get through it! ~V.R
